Highland Antiques Show & Sale
What
began four years ago as an attempt to showcase antiques
and quality art is quickly becoming one of the premier antique shows.
The show has grown each year with exhibitors from four
states. Traditionally the exhibitors
display furniture, jewelry, fine glass, linens, pottery, toys and
books. The show's sponsors, Mike Finley and Lynn Rehberger, have
been antique dealers throughout the Illinois and Missouri area.
They were looking for an opportunity to host an antiques show but
wanted to benefit a worthy cause. The result is the Highland
Antiques Show and Sale benefitting the Highland Animal
Shelter.
Show co-manager Mike Finley said, "Antiques and quality
art are synonymous. People who collect antiques appreciate the
value of fine art and vice versa. It's a perfect marriage."
The antique show is held in conjunction with Art in the Park sponsored by the Highland Area Arts Council.
The
show gives exhibitors the benefit of reaching a large
audience in one location. An added incentive for the
public is the chance to have an informal appraisal on an item with
a
paid admission.
